I would like to share with you some of the photographs taken during my visit to India between November 3 and 10, 2022, as chairman of The Nippon Foundation and WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination.

With participants in the 2nd Global Forum of People’s Organizations on Hansen’s Disease, held in Hyderabad under the theme of “Strengthening and maximizing the roles and capacities of People’s Organizations to promote the dignity of persons affected by Hansen’s disease.” The three-day session brought together 21 People’s Organizations from 16 countries and one international People’s Organization, with over 100 people attending each day.

Visiting residents of the Shanthi Nagar Leprosy Colony, one of India’s oldest and largest colonies in Nalgonda, 90 kilometers from Hyderabad. Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation (S-ILF) is supporting their efforts to become socially and economically independent.
I told these children to care for their parents.
