The Nippon Foundation has established two scholarship programs at Gallaudet University for students from developing countries-the Sasakawa International Scholarship created in 1993 and the World Deaf Leadership Scholarship in 2003.
She told me the university has decided to confer an honorary degree on me, inviting me to visit the institution in May 2026 for the ceremony.
“I am very grateful for the honor,” I said in accepting her invitation.
