【Photo Diary】 (1) Visit to Tunisia and Ethiopia

Published on September 7, 2022

I would like to share with you some of the photographs taken during my visit to Tunisia and Ethiopia between August 25 and September 4, 2022.

In the Tunisian capital of Tunis, I attended the eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8), which brought together 20 heads of state and government as well as ministers and other representatives from 48 African countries and Japan, and from international organizations, the private sector and civil society.

In Ethiopia, I toured farms in rural areas run under the projects of the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) with funding support from The Nippon Foundation. I also attended the completion ceremony for the new headquarters building in Addis Ababa of the Ethiopian National Association of Persons Affected by Leprosy (ENAPAL).

UGTT was part of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, which was awarded the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize for “its decisive contribution” to democracy in the wake of the so-called the Jasmine Revolution in 2011.
