【Photo Diary】 (2) Visit to Tunisia and Ethiopia

I would like to share with you some of the photographs taken during my visit to Tunisia and Ethiopia between August 25 and September 4, 2022.

African Development (TICAD8) was held August 27-28, 2022.The conference was co-hosted by the Japanese and Tunisian governments as well as the United Nations, U.N. Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and the African Union Commission (AUC). It brought together 20 heads of state and government, and ministers and other representatives from 48 African countries and Japan, and from international organizations, the private sector and civil society.

CaptionGreeting Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, who attended the conference in person as the special envoy of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Mr. Kishida addressed the session remotely from Tokyo as he called off his visit to Tunisia after testing positive for COVID-19 days earlier.

The two-day TICAD8 concluded on August 28, 2022, by adopting the Tunis Declaration, which expressed serious concern about the situation in Ukraine and underscored “the negative socio-economic impact of this crisis, which has created food insecurity in Africa in the challenging context” of the post-COVID-19 era.

Having supper during the 6-hour stopover at Frankfurt Airport en route from Tunis, Tunisia, to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

I can sleep anytime, anywhere.
